This is a unique 1930s' black straw tilt hat. The short crown is flat at the top. The brim is medium size. Around the crown there is a velour band ending in a bow and cascading down at the back. From this bow there is an incredibly creatively crafted long black feather trimmed on top with two "woven" straw-like navy thin stripes. Please see photo up close. This hat is quite a striking fashion look from the era. An elastic strap is attached to the inside to keep the hat in place. Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these. There is no label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
