GIVENCHY VINTAGE TORTOISESHELL NECKLACE - This beautiful necklace has a unique history: it belonged to Russian gypsy singer Marusia Sava, who at 16 escaped Siberia during the Bolshevik Revolution and came to NYC. - In New York, she sang at The Russian Tea Room next door to Carnegie Hall, she recorded albums, and sang at FDR’s home twice. - Her voice had a vast range and she was known for her elaborate costumes and beauty. Google her to listen to her music and - if you known Russian - you can read her autobiography (a book was published about her life a few years ago). - This necklace is vintage, from the 60’s/70’s. - The Pendant is made of faux tortoiseshell with inlaid gold plated symbols - butterfly, tortoise, etc. - Gold plated throughout with signature Double G clasp. - The Givenchy logo is inlaid on back of pendant. Condition: As this is a vintage piece there are signs of wear throughout. Overall, it is in excellent pre-owned condition. See photos. There are some scratches on gold and minor tarnishing.
