Vintage 1940's Schwarzenhammer Bavaria -Set of Three Porcelain - White, Cobalt Blue and Gold Gilt - Cup, Saucer and Dessert Plate.
Beautiful Set of Three Schwarzenhammer Bavaria Porcelain Dishes.
Luxurious white with an intense cobalt blue rim which has a gold gilt design, decorated with flowers.
The backstamp on all indicates they were produced from 1946-1949.
Made by Schwarzenhammer Bavaria, known for their quality and craftsmanship.
The backstamp on all reads Schwarzenhammer Bavaria and a version below in gold of Germany U S Zone.
These were made post World War II during a period in which Germany was divided into 4 zones and was called the Partition. The 4 zones were the American Zone, French Zone, Soviet Zone and British Zone. The Allied Occupation or Partition lasted from 1945-1952. In the US Zone, which included Bavaria, where many famous German porcelain potteries had been located, one of the first things focused on was reopening the potteries to provide jobs and begin again bringing income into the country.
The cup measures approx. 4 1/4" in Diameter and 5" L from the handle to the rim. Its height is approx. 2". The saucer measures approx. 5 3/4" in Diameter. The dessert plate measures approx. 7 3/4" in Diameter.
All 3 pieces are in excellent condition for their age. The colors and pattern are bright and crisp. There is some wear of the gold around the outside rim of all, most notably on the dessert plate. Please review pictures.
