Had my lovely seamstress turn my Babushka Maxi into a skirt and top, because I couldn't stand how the smocked waist drooped when I used the pockets. She did a wonderful job, the drawstring for the waistband needs to be replaced before it can be worn.
I've included some of the different drawstrings in my Spell collection and it seems like no two are the same.
I did find the right macrame cord in turquoise, but need help deciding on the ends. Tassels, beads, tassels AND beads, bells, balls, ribbon, braided, twisted, makes my head spin!
Are there any styles you love, or hate? Let me know!

I’m not a fan of cotton tassels. They get unraveled and weird. You can always comb them, but they just never look the same as “new”.

@genie731 Yes! That always bothered me. I wonder if there's a way to tie or wrap them when washing to retain their newness? The thread tassels seem to hold up much better

@mosh_park yes! It’s so frustrating. I LOVE my cinder tunic I wear it weekly in the warm weather, but good golly, it’s a constant battle with the tassels.

@genie731 Making the tassels is the most intimidating part of this whole thing for me, that's why I've been putting off this project for so long. But if I get the hang of it then maybe I'll get into the replacement tassel business 😂

@mosh_park 👍👍I like the bells. But, sometimes they give my location away to my kids and I’m like, Dangit!!!

@mosh_park I agree with @genie731. I like the bells. I think any way you do it will be cute, but the bells with some metallic wrapping is super cute.

@mosh_park So much to say. 😂The cotton tassels, easily tangle, (Kombi flutter top)look like a mop,I love the silky tassels, I think they hold up a little better but may be only on pieces I’ve never worn. The little brass bells are so cute, but are quite hazardous around toddlers, can bonk one in the head with a lot of force, swinging from the end of a waist cord. I think I prefer the cords made of the same fabric with a knot in the end. They wash better, I wash in net bags in cold

@mosh_park (cont’d) in a newer model HE washer that I can set to low agitation on super delicate & hang inside to dry. I’ve gotten used pcs b4 that came to me with the ropes unwound. All These are such cool looks, but on the pieces that you really wear a lot, so wash, it really makes a difference. It also depends if you’re around little ones. They all can look cool, but I’m thinking practically.

@themagicwand Yes, I'm leaning towards simplicity at this point! My macrame cord just arrived so I'll be trying a couple options this week! 💙

@mosh_park I don’t think you’ll have any problem. I’ve had only one unicorn that really had issues with anything & it came to me in such great condition, but the tassels & elastic, which I replaced 1 & tried to repair instead of totally removing. Then I got a second dress entirely which was perfect so it’s allowed me to put that off in my sewing for longer. 😁

@mosh_park I would end them with a thin metal wrap around then instead of a tassel which I agree will fray ect, put tiny moroccan bells, like free people do on some of their items. I have a bunch of them!
