In excellent condition, Wow! The Art work is a Superb example of hand-painting, it’s a partial set consisting of a stout teapot & under-plate and a covered sugar bowl. The teapot & sugar are German made, while the under-plate is French. I believe these pieces were Blanks imported to the USA and later hand-decorated.
The teapot & sugar back stamp dates between 1880 - 1918 by Porzellanfabrik Zeh, Scherzer & Co. A.G. Quality of Zeh Scherzer products was compared to Rosenthal or Hutschenreuther. The resulting products were quite spectacular & today remain a valuable addition to any art deco collection.
The under-plate back stamp is Gerard et Dufraiuseix which was factory in Limoges, France that produced specifically for the export market to the US from France. The GD stands for E. Gerard et Dufraiuseix. The A stands for Abbott, importer & distributor for these wares in NYC. GD bought Charles Haviland around 1882. GD added A in 1901 and used that mark until 1941.
The detailing is quite impressive, tiny “pebbles” outlined in gold have a faint greenish color. Somewhat of a Grecian design with chrysanthemum flowers, the gold is Uber opulent!
The pieces are in excellent condition with no chips cracks crazing or dings. Slight abrasion on the gold rim where the lid sits on both the teapot and sugar. Nothing that detracts, gorgeous pieces.
