@amehenley Anything that is "gold plated" means the gold can wear off. It is recommended not to wear plated items in the shower or when swimming as the chemicals (soap, chlorine, etc.) can cause damage to your jewelry items whether plated or not. Google says the average life span of plated jewelry is 2 years, but that depends on how much contact it has had with environmental chemicals. Once that happens, it can easily, and cheaply, be replated by either a jewler or with at home kits.
