LANVIN is a French multinational high fashion house, which was founded by Jeanne Lanvin in 1889.
In the beginning, Jeanne Lanvin made clothes for her daughter, which began to attract the attention of a number of wealthy people, who requested copies for their own children.
Soon after, she was making clothes for their mothers, which lead to opening a boutique to market her products to some of the most famous names in Europe.
In 1909, Lanvin joined the Syndicat de la Couture, which marked her formal status as a couturière.
Jeanne Lanvin died in 1946, but the company is still very much alive today. It is recognized as the third oldest French fashion house still in operation.
