This figurine, Entitled "Sommeil" which means "Sleep" in french seems to represent immigrants or those displaced by war searching for a better life. It was created around World War 1 which seems sadly fitting. It reminds me of people on a ship many decades ago seeing the statue of liberty for the first time..but I digress. My relatives immigrated from Germany in the 1800s so that is my take on it. What do you see? A captain is scouting while a man is comforting a weary woman in a white, cobalt blue and gold floral dress and hat. I am told the gold accents and impressed gold band around the bottom is actual 24k Gold. There are very very few of these to be found! The only identical item I can find was sold in Germany for around $600 at auction. This one is in near perfect condition, except for the bottom.
