SALE An antique transitional style dress for the mature figure. This is the real thing--we are placing this in the late 19th century teens, possibly to the '30s. We are terming it "transitional" because it is "arts & crafts" style heading to the loose styles of the '20's and '30s, but retaining some Victorian era features. The fabric is black, crepe-like with a nice drape. Interest is heightened with the collar, the front panel and the angled cuffs in a silky tapestry pattern--it is a woodland look with medallions in slate blue, rust and green. The waist--typical for the era--is drop belt with ties in the back. The nod to Victoriana is in the 4 x 2 black beaded, butterfly shape belt buckle at the front. It is sewn to the dress. Sleeves close with snaps--the dress is pull-over. No maker label
Size: no size label--we believe this to be a "matron" size--44" bust; 50" waist; 50" hip--taking into account that the style was to fit loosely. Sleeves are 24 1/2"; 15" across back; 6" front V-neck; the tapestry like pattern accounts for 6" wide panel at front to hem; angled sleeve cuffs account for 10" of the sleeve. The dress is 45" long to 4" hem
Condition: very good antique, no holes or stains found. We are very tempted to designate this museum quality.
