Old French tin box by J . Lafitte Paris, Société des plaques et poudres à souder

A very unique early thin tin box having heavy embossment and design, measuring 8" long, 4" wide, and 1 1/8" thick. The top of box contains a raised chicken design and the words "Societe des plaques et poudres a souder fers et aciers legere / J.Laffitte / Paris / Legere",which roughly translates to "Company Of Plates And Powders For Soldering Irons And Light Steels". Sides are heavily embossed "Quadrillees Brevetees S.G.D.G."/"Usine De Tremerolles Seine & Oise"(Tremerolles Plant) . Bottom embossed with a very detailed stamp of J.Lafitte himself and "Inventeur Createur / Des / Plaques A Souder"(Inventor-Creator Of Solder Plates). 20.5 cm X 10.5 cm
