Antique SET American Belleek Hand Painted Large Pitcher and 4 Matching Mugs. c.1889-1906. Signed "L" Belleek; beautiful hand painted apples, with gold gilded rims on cups and pitcher. Walter Scott Lenox and Jonathan Coxon founded the Ceramic Art Company (CAC) of Trenton, New Jersey in 1889. I believe this set to be around 1906 as Lenox bought out Jonathan Coxon as the mark contains the L signature and not the CAC. Beautiful raised beaded detail on all handles, apple floral pattern with gorgeous shades of soft foam green, russet reds and creams. Lemonade, cider, iced tea, your beverage choices are unlimited in this gorgeous set.
FLAWS: There is an approximate 1.5 inch hairline crack in bottom (see photo); this does go through to inside but isn't too significant as the porcelain still rings. Does not distract at all from the appearance and loveliness of this set and can easily be repaired, however, unnecessary if only displayed. One cup has a couple of flakes (see photo), others have normal wear but again, nothing to disconcerting or distracting. Overall a truly elegant and historical piece.
