Art Nouveau, likely French, beauty to set atop your vanity, dressing table, dresser, desk or hall table. A “Vide Poche” originally used as vanity, pin or card tray. It is made of gilt bronze or brass. The design features a graceful long-haired woman in profile, flowers and other flourishes characteristic of the Art Nouveau aesthetic. Curves slightly upwards and sits on four feet.
Perfect for holding jewelry, keys or other trinkets. Measures 6 1/2” by 4 1/2” and about 1” tall. Circa 1890s - 1930s. Unsigned (as far as I can tell). Has a few spots of oxidation consistent with age.
A Vide Poche (French for empty pockets) is a valet tray or empty bowl used to collect change, keys, and daily miscellany.
