ungiustomezzo @ritchie99528 true to size meaning? Birks come in either regular or narrow widths. What does the foot look like on the inside? Is it a solid image or outline?

gwynnethe1 Hi, I see a teaching opportunity! ritchie99528, Birkenstocks come in two sizes, Regular and Narrow. To Americans, Narrow is the standard width you are used to trying on in your average shoe store. Narrow is noted on the sole/footbed of the shoe by an indication of a solid footprint, usually next to the EU size. To Germans, Regular is the standard width you are used to trying on in your average shoe store. Regular is noted on the sole/footbed of the shoe by an indication of an outlined footprint

gwynnethe1 To Americans, the outlined footprint which is marked as "Regular" per Birkenstock sizing, should get the label of "Wide." Germans walk for shorter excursions, and walk anytime they can. This way of life will naturally widen the foot, making roomier shoes the "Standard." Since Americans are more apt to use their cars in all but a few of the larger cities such as New York City or Chicago, widths of shoes can remain narrower than their European counterparts. Now, you know! Cheers!
