This book contains more than a thousand problems with answers for about half of them—including, usually, one for each type and for the more difficult problems. No descriptive or explanatory material is part of the book; tables of ir absorption bands and proton shifts are presented. Organization of the 22 chapters is by functional group although there are also chapters on spectroscopy, bonding, configuration and conformation, resonance, and nucleophilic displacement and elimination. This is a well-rounded selection of conventional and of very modern problems. Nomenclature is adequately treated, especially because many of the structural formulas cited for other problems are varied enough to be used as nomenclature exercises. This set is a well-organized selection of classical and modern problems which would be especially useful for all organic chemistry students.
