The Weidlich Brothers began manufacturing silver and gold plated goods from 1910-1950. Salt and pepper shakers began production from 1930-1950. This art deco design places these in the 1940s, nearly 100 years ago. In glorious condition this set is has smooth sultry lines from head to trumpeted base that ends in a geometric shape true to the period. The shield on the front of the shaker is a detail that lays homage to early Victorian era. The shakers top screws off and each has the same number of holes to season. Beautiful elegant design for a table scape. The markings on the bottom are very clear and a little patina on the salt shaker is visible at the holes. The reflection of our marble counter top you see in the shakers shows how little tarnish has hit these well kept vintage pieces. Weidlich pieces are collectible and housed in museums and universities. This set was found at a home just outside of Washington D.C. surely passed down and gifted over the years.
