This disc is a reproduction of a piece of work found in 1908 in Phaistos, southern Crete. Believed to date from 1700. It is a circular clay disc inscribed on both sides with symbols unlike any other, known system of writing. It shows 241 symbols with 45 individual, unique images believed to have been pressed into the surface of the clay before it dried. Its meaning and purpose are disputed. It is a mystery.
The disc is approx 6 1/2" and stands 8 1/4" including a frosted glass base. The base alone measures 4 3/4" x 2 1/2" x 3/4". Good condition but possible chips on top of the disc. It is difficult to say if these are a result of mfgr error . See photos as part of the full description.
