The burgundy red background has a mottled appearance, as though the artist dribbled alcohol to give a more vintage look. I find the effect charming but some may dislike it. See photos. The back of this caddy is scuffed, which doesn't effect the cosmetics of this piece when hanging on the wall. Previous owner added adhesive pads to the lower back of this piece to protect the wall.
