Used silver backing to make the pendant and a vintage new old stock peacock eye cabochons. The chain measures 16 inches as pictured. I had the pendant and it reminds me of a cross and loved the scrollwork of the silver metal but it seemed to need something so I added a vintage peacock eye glass cabochon to it. I am unsure of maker. I love the symbolism and the history of peacocks and that is why I chose it for this particular pendant with the cross like shape. At various times and in various cultures, the peacock has served as a symbol of good and evil, death and resurrection, and of sinful pride and overweening vanity. And much like its avian brethren, the crow and the raven, the peacock has figured heavily in folktales and fables, as well as in countless superstitions that still exist today.
First originating in India, peacocks can trace their history back to biblical times. They are mentioned in the Bible as being part of the treasure taken to the court of King Solomon. It is not sterling measurements are pictured the peacock eye is from new old stock.
