This glorious 1930's green straw tilt hat is sure to impress!! The short crown is indented at the top, and it slants forward. It is surrounded by a short brim which is turned down at the edge. There is a truly magnificent two-tone green feather "wing" projected up and back from one of the sides. The full ,ay=tching veil has 3 small feathers attached, which make the look even more special and mysterious. At the back there are two wide grosgrain bands attached by an elastic ring to hold the hat in a tilted position. Stunning, and one-of-a-kind!
Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these.
There is no designer label, but a CONSUMER'S PROTECTION label.
This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
