A frontispiece is an illustration that appears facing a book's title page. When a book is open to the title page, the frontispiece appears on the left and the title page on the right. These came from a c. 1880's book and I took them to be professionally framed in acid free matting. Rare, custom, in fabulous condition. Dark grey taupe double matt, white matt, silver taupe wood frame. Frontispiece etchings are not foxed and are in excellent condition. "Toho" is an instruction to stop or halt, used when calling hunting dogs.
