This is indeed a rare and unique tilt hat from the 1930s'! The small round cap is made of chocolate brown felt, and is surrounded by curled strips of the same brown felt, plus curled strips of gold/mustard colored strips. There is also a large brown bow at the back, plus an "O" ring to hole this beautiful hat in place. Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these. 30s Fashion certainly seemed fussier than the 1920s with its relentless ornaments of bows, trims and frills. Label: Designed by FRANCES This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
