Taisto Kaasinen Pottery for Arabia Bull Moose Large Mid Century Finland. Amazing large piece by Taisto Kaasinen (1918-1980), one of Finland’s leading ceramic artists in the 20th century. He was part of the Nordic tradition aiming for warm-hearted, humorous, and sometimes subtly ironic design. After his art studies, Taisto worked for the Arabia and Upsala-Ekeby factories for more than 25 years. He became a prominent designer of animal and people figurines with rounded shapes and kind expressions. Taisto’s artistry is represented at the numerous museums in the Nordic countries. No chips, cracks or flaws. Signed on the bottom of the piece. Weighs ~4.6 lbs. A great piece for any Scandinavian Mid Century collector! Very few examples of this piece online that I could find.
