Stunning antique brass brooch featuring aquamarine and AB rhinestones. At least, I assume the bright bluish stones to be aquamarine, however not with certainty. The dead giveaway on the age is the trombone closure, so named for the push and pull maneuver needed to operate it. This clasp was first seen in the early 1890s, in European brooches,particularly in France. The trombone clasp became popular on this side of the pond in the early 1940s. NOTE: this clasp. with age and wear no longer holds firm, thus rendering it unwearable. But, most assuredly, a good jeweler could repair it. And, once that brass is polished: wow!
