VTG A 1950's black velvet foldover clutch from Ingber. It has a heavy gold tone frame with a disc shape kisslock closure and the front of the frame has an inset black enamel. The interior is lined in a beige/blush shade of high quality satin with 2 slip pockets that probably held a mirror and comb. It measures, when folded 9.5" wide, 5.5" in height and minimal depth. Ingber was founded in 1903 and remained one of the top quality handbag manufacturers until their closing in 1966. The market had become enamored with the sturdier leather such as the Kelly bag and Ingber machinery was geared for the soft and supple leathers so a re-tooling never occurred. Their bags were known for quality and uniqueness and were featured in many movies. Some scratches and small tarnish on the frame but still in wonderful condition. The kisslock is still very tight and the interior is clean. A collectible and useable bag! Thanks for looking!
