Antique Old Estate 5”x6" Soapstone Seated Laughing Buddha with Wooden Base

This item is new but was stored in my neighbors garage for like 50 years. It was likely carved in 70's and is a figurine of Budai. Buddhist figure Budai is a revered Buddhist figure and symbol of compassion, happiness, and good fortune. He is also known as the Laughing Buddha or Fat Buddha. Budai is often depicted as a round, jolly monk with a big smile, carrying a bag of treasures. He is believed to be the incarnation of Maitreya, the future Buddha. Budai's image is prominent in Chinese culture, especially during celebrations and festivals. A beautiful green color and a medium stain on the wooden base.
