Well, I understand you would like to get more than 570, I bought similar ones (look like worn 1-3 times) for 300 on ebay....just saying ; )

hi there i am a 7.5 modern day size . would these fit to tight?
Sep 08Reply

stepat5351
Yes, to be honest I believe they would be too unfortably snug at best. I too wear between a 7-7.5 depending on the manufacturer. Vintage Frye like a lot of vintage shoes and clothinbg run smaller than today’s current sizes. I have only wore them with nylons, never socks, not even thin socks and that was many years ago. I personally I feel they would fit a size 6.5 comfortably even with socks. Thank you for your question.

I had a pair of these in the chocolate color in a size 5 back in the 70’s, I eventually gave them away to Goodwill in the 90’s in excellent condition and always kicked myself in the ass for not keeping them. I remember I paid $90 (brand new) and had laid them away from a store in NJ called “The Lodge” for 3 months when I was in high school. Only reason I got rid of them was because the heels always seemed to push outward as the shank didn’t seem to Bo very stable.

Did you raise the price from $84.00 to $575?? 🤯
Sep 30Reply

stepat5351
Hi there, no, I’ve never listed my boots for $84.00. if you are looking at the price on the Fyre box, that is the price that they originally sold for in the 70’s and not what I paid for them in the early 90’s. I hope that helps answer your question. Let me know if you have other questions. Have a wonderful evening.

Hello, why are there nails on the bottom of the boots?
Sep 30Reply

stepat5351
Hello, I’m so I just checked in and got your message. I actually had to google this and here is the explanation.Reinforcement: Nails in the soles of vintage Frye boots serve to reinforce the structure, providing added strength and durability.Nails in vintage Frye boots enhance durability, reflect traditional craftsmanship, and contribute to their distinctive appearance. Now I know as well. Thank you for the your question.

Hello. Just curious if these are actual 1970s vintage or just a reproduction vintage look?

@mlhcat I stole these exact boots from my mom and remember the heel being a bit uncentered. I do wish I still had them, though!
Oct 04Reply

stepat5351
@clwilliams7s I'm so sorry it took me so long to see your message. To answer your question they are original Frye boots from the 70’s. Thank you for your question.

Could you please tell me what your upper calf measurement is? I’m wondering if the shaft circumference is really small based on the measurement
Nov 09Reply

stepat5351
Hi there, I re-measured just to be sure. It is 6 7/8” just shy of 14” total circumference. I do understand how difficult it is to buy shoes and boots especially when they are vintage. I hope this helps. Best wishes.

how old are the vintage boots? have they been resoled? if so, when?
Nov 09Reply

stepat5351
@strawnsmom Hi there, thanks for your questions. The boot were made between 1969-1972, approximately 56 yrs old and have never been resoled. They have never been worn by anyone but myself because I am the original owner. They are pristine.

@eailes they were cool boots, it was the style in the 70’s in high school. Did your Mom get hers from Goodwill, could hers been the pair I used to own? Wouldn’t that be a coincidence if they were!!

stepat5351
@mlhcat Hi there, I had to laugh because I am a girl from the 70’s and also the original owner to boot (ha ha). That would have been quite the coinidence and a great story to tell wouldn’t it? But, nevertheless the boots have only been worn by me. Thank you and best wishes.
