Copyright 1959 Pulitzer Prize Awarded for this book in 1960. Book was on New York Times fiction bestseller list for 102 weeks! First edition and likely first or very early printing. Please do your own research to confirm. Sold as is. Ask questions! Lots of pics for you to inspect. Dust jacket is original and is in rough shape with multiple small tears. Gold sticker on front of the dust jacket says “PULITZER PRIZE WINNER” in all caps. Sticker was likely affixed to the dust jacket right after winning the Pulitzer Prize in 1960. Cloth bound book, looks like linen. Book itself is in very good to excellent condition. No thanks to any of the corners. Minimal shelf wear. The dust jacket looks tattered but it has served to protect the book. RARE VINTAGE BOOK!!! Rare because of: 1) Author’s signature 2) Book was published just prior to winning the Pulitzer Prize 3) Gold sticker was affixed to original dust jacket after winning the prize. Subsequent dust jackets would have imprinted “Pulitzer Prize Winner” without the need for a sticker. About the author section still excludes his award but future printing would update this achievement. 4) Book is in very good to excellent condition. Own a piece of Washington D.C. literary history.
