Paperback, 350 pages, 1992.
Comprehensive collection of Sylvia Plath’s poetic works, and winner of the Pulitzer Prize (Plath died in 1963 but it was awarded posthumously in 1982 for this book). Contains everything Plath wrote after 1956, as well as a selection of earlier work. Because we now know how much she struggled with clinical depression, so many of these works are deeply powerful, and poignant as hell.
This copy is in very good used condition. Very minor scuffing on the cover, one poem has been highlighted (see pics) and I erased a couple of pencil marks. Otherwise, the spine is in solid shape--no cracks--and there are no missing pages, no stains, no rips, no dog-ears.
When I was first studying poetry, Sylvia Plath knocked my damn socks off. Flipping through the pages again this week, nothing has changed. The strength of her work, her language choices, her rhythms--just an incredible writer. I would keep this if we weren't downsizing, it's a great collection!
