This beautiful and intricately designed antique glass pitcher is a beautiful example of early American pattern glass (EAPG). The detailed pattern features hobstars of various sizes and styles within panels and curved arches, and it has been pressed into the exterior of thepitcher to give a heavily textured finish. Early American Pattern Glass (EAPG) was produced in America from the 1850s until around 1915. It was intended for everyday use by ordinary families who could not afford much more expensive brilliant cut glassware and crystalware. Manufacturers produced whole table sets in matching patterns and competed to produce the most desirable and popular designs to entice customers to buy their products. Close to 1,000 different patterns were produced in full table sets over this period. Designs were often only produced over a short period of time before being replaced with newer ones. Good condition EAPG pieces are now highly collectible, especially in North America. This particular pattern was introduced by the Imperial Glass Company in 1913 and is listed as 'Imperial No. 505 - Bellaire'. The Imperial Glass Company was founded in 1901 in Bellaire, Ohio and its glassware was sold around the world. - EAPG pitcher - Imperial Glass Company No. 505 'Bellaire' pattern - antique item, dates from around 1913 Check out my page for more vintage finds, electronics, home decor, furniture, clothing, vintage magazines, and more!
