This exquisite handcrafted Russian lacquer art piece features a dynamic scene of St. George slaying the dragon. The intricate design showcases vibrant red, orange, and gold hues on a black background.
Palekh art is Russian folk handicraft of miniature paintings done with tempera paints on varnished articles made of papier-mâché.
This box was on display at The Dragon Dreams Museum in Chattanooga, TN, which closed permanently in 2016. I purchased the contents last Summer.
