Rare vintage signed Matisse scalloped copper necklace with blue enamel. Gorgeous copper necklace by Renoir in excellent vintage condition. Some tarnish to the backside of the necklace on some of the links and hang tag. Design: The Renoir company, produced copper jewelry from 1946 to about 1964. The "Matisse" mark was used on enameled pieces starting in the early 1950s.  Renoir jewelry is known for its modernist, abstract designs. Pieces were hand-hammered and sometimes enameled.

Marks:
Early pieces were marked "Hand Made Renoir of California" (1952-1954), later pieces were marked "Renoir". The "Matisse" mark was used for enameled pieces. After 1954, pieces bore the copyright mark.
