This pewter Camel Cash money clip dates to the 90s. The clip measures 2.5 inches wide and 1.5 inches tall and has detailed engravings. Joe Camel (also called Old Joe) was an advertising mascot used by the R.J Reynolds’s Co. for their Camel Cigarette Brand. The character was created in 1974 for a French advertising campaign, and was redesigned for the American market in 1988. Not soon after it began to create controversy that it targeted teenagers and and created underage smoking. There is lots more to learn about Joe, but by 1997 he had disappeared from view, after pressure from the Federal Trade Commission. The money clip is just one item showing a little bit of history.
