Portico of St. Michael’s Church, Meeting Street, Charleston, S.C. framed print by Alfred Hutty.
The print is slightly faded, watermarks present, the frame is chippy, it’s an absolute vintage treasure. A beautiful piece of Lowcountry history.
Alfred Hutty was a 20th-century American artist who is considered one of the leading figures of the Charleston Renaissance. His oeuvre ranges from impressionist landscape paintings to detailed drawings and prints of life in the South Carolina Lowcountry. He was active in local arts organizations, helping to found both an art school and an etchers' club.
This is a vintage piece, if you’re looking for new and pristine, this isn’t for you. But, if you love shabby chic, rusty crusty vintage goodness, this is an excellent find.
