Antique Pewter Bowl or Soap Dish, circa 1896. Design by Hugo Leven. Marked Kayserzinn, which refers to high-quality pewterware from the German Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) period. Made of a lead-free pewter alloy by the Kayser Company, an atelier known for German and European artistic craftsmanship of that time. This bowl features Water Lilies in relief with a scalloped design on the rim, and is attributed Kayserzinn’s top artist, Hugo Leven. It is marked with the model number 4234.
SIZE: Measures 6 1/2” diameter by 2” deep.
CONDITION: The bowl has various scuffs consistent with age and use. See close up photos #5, 6, and 7.
Kayserzinn pieces are held in museums like the Musée d'Orsay and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
