Almost antique, 1930's exceptional quality Pillivuyt French porcelain. Glass eyes make the sculptural rabbit on the lid very realistic. Small roasting dish - tureen, baking dish, but maybe unused - no signs of use. White enamel interior, dark green outer. Marked impressed with a 4, size is 6" x 8.5" and 3.5" tall, total height 6". Condition excellent, no chips cracks or excess wear. Rubbed spot above left eye, shelf wear on the bottom. Please see pics too. Amazing display piece, fine French bake wear, made in France.

Hi. How would you pkg to ensure it wouldn't damage in shipping?

@sondra_hill Hi, Of course!

It can't be double boxed because of size but either cardboard or styrofoam between lid and base. Lots of bubble and fitting snug in the box, interior bubble taped securely.

Does the lid have a somewhat glossy topcoat glaze on it? (It looks like maybe there is only matte paint on it, and that it has run, somewhat - but maybe this is just an artifact of the photos or the way I am seeing it.) Thank you for the help and info!

@rachellaflambe Hi, The top is a matte glaze. It is not painted over. Please explain what you mean by "has run" - the glaze is original, it has a pattern within it but no visible flaws or defects

Thank you for your reply, and sorry, I really did not explain that well. If you look at the second picture, it looks like there is a light yellow paint that is overlaying the brown paint. In the eighth picture you can see it pretty well, too. Because is is so matte, I wasn't sure what I was seeing. These rabbit tureens are so variable in regard to the coloration and glazing (some are pretty shiny, and much darker), and I am trying to match part of a set. I really appreciate your help!

I hope I can help clarify- there is a transition in the glaze colors. Around the rabbit it is ochre and around the edge a sienna. While other areas are blended (one color 'fades' into the other) the line that you are seeing on that side is not blended. Neither color appears to be overlaying the other, it is just not a soft transition. Understandably, like most handmade pieces they vary one to the other.

That really helps, thank you! Absolutely - I have never seen two of these tureens that are exactly the same - appears to have been quite a bit of artistic leeway given to the craftspeople. Very cool! Thankyou.

I love this piece so much! I had a set of different pieces but they were still on not accusing you it's not this one it's just one's like it. I had a whole China closet full. I miss them very much. I wish I would have remembered this was here I would have bought it at Christmas
