Petit point handbags were popular from the Victorian Era through the 1930s and could take six weeks to six months to create a single canvas because it uses smaller stitches on a finer canvas to create more detailed designs. The stitch used in petit point is also called the tent stitch or petit point stitch made on a canvas with 18 or 24 stitches per inch. This elegant handbag features a beautiful floral embroidery on a black background on the front, back, and sides. Delicately etched gold filigree metal frame. Gold tone snake chain handle. Genuine rose quartz cabochon clasp. Fully lined with two interior pockets, appears to be black silk. Measurements (approx): 6" H x 9" W x 1.5" D Handle drop: 6" Condition: Excellent Vintage condition. Properly stored in a non-smoking environment. Some expected oxidation in the metal due to age. A slight bend in one of the top loops where the snake chain attaches. Do not recommend fixing this as it might weaken the metal. It is so slight, that you have to look for it but worth mentioning.
