Vintage Chinese painted jewelry box.
Charming vintage Chinese dresser box from the early to mid 20th century, likely from the 1930s or so. Ochre yellow painted box with gilded decoration depicting two scholars surrounded by traditional auspicious symbols like the bat, vase, scroll, crane and peach. The hinged top opens for a folding pop-out mirror and jewelry compartment, with a lower drawer that are both lined with printed Chinese paper. Box has two side handle and engraved corner mounts.
Pretty good vintage condition, there are a few painted touch-ups where the original finish flaked away. Check out the last pic. Priced accordingly.
