The knot can be unraveled and retied in case the shirt loses its shape over the course of the day. The material is thick, so it's not see through. The stitching around hem and sleeve openings does not stretch. This helps the top retain its shape after washing, which is great. I've owned many Madewell sweaters and long sleeves where they unfortunately lose shape after being washed. Overall, great top. The knot adds a nice look to it so it's not too casual looking. I am usually a small in short sleeve and long sleeve t-shirts from the brand. I recommend getting your size in Madewell long sleeve t-shirts, possibly a size down.
