Moritz Zdekauer manufactured porcelain in Austria between 1884 and 1909. Producing quality porcelain that would then be hand painted by talented artist. Not all were signed but this one was! What is most amazing is the artists name. Note the photo with the name Luken! It is the mark of the well known porcelain artist Minnie A. Luken. Minnie had a studio in Chicago which enhanced beautiful porcelain items for refined families. Her studio opened in 1895 and flourished until about 1937.
Many of her pieces featured blue and white forget me nots.
If you love the dreamy cottage aesthetic or the love shack fancy look, this sweet porcelain tray deserves a place in your life. Can you see it holding your beautiful perfume bottles or gathering your makeup in one feminine spot.
This tray tells a story. Imagine the life of the artist Minnie A Luken back in 1895! She must have been something to have been adventurous enough to open a studio and successful enough to have kept it going until 1937! I discovered the address of her studio, it was 3317 Michigan Avenue, Chicago.
Wouldn’t we all love to know the rest of her story? I know I would.
But for now we just have this piece of her, a sweet reminder that she existed and that she saw beauty and shared it. What could be more perfect than that?
Help keep her story alive by treasuring this wonderful porcelain piece. Place it in your daily world and enjoy the beauty of it. A true Forget me not!
