Beautiful cluster cocktail ring with multicolor gemstones in prong-set sterling weighs 6 grams. The faceted oval-cut stones are centered around a large blue topaz, with citrine and peridot on one side, and amethyst and garnet on the other. Their color and clarity are nicely gradated, ending with a dark garnet. The design is thoughtfully weighted toward the center. Stones diminish in size toward the sides, as in two-point perspective. The setting is highest at the center, dropping slightly at the sides. This is not a cookie-cutter design. While the "head" or top of the ring is wide and full of stones, the sides pinch in to accommodate nearby fingers, another thoughtful feature. (photo 7) The ring is not low profile though, and can touch them depending the hand's size and shape. Personally I prefer bling like this on a middle or index finger (photos 2 & 9). It's too wide for my size 8 ring finger. The hallmark features an upper-case F inside an elongated gem; the number 8 indicates its size. I have not been able to identify the maker, but the hallmark can be found on gemstone rings on the resale market. I have not had the stones tested, but the reliable reseller described them as gems. Bright and clear with clean surfaces, they sparkle in their native color, rather than in the rainbow of cubic zirconia. Under a loupe, I see double refraction (twin lines) in the peridot which indicates a natural gem, according to my research.
