The exterior is a soft buttery brown leather with gold studs, the interior is a rich dark chocolate brown suede. There are no tears or rips. I stored this bag with an interior purse form to maintain the shape of the leather, in the Gucci dust bag (included), in temperature controlled closet, in a handbag display case.
