The basket reeds grow in eastern and southern Africa. In South Africa it is known as a fluisterboom (whispering tree). In Zambia it grows in the miombo and munga woodlands and gives its name to a woven bowl that could tell a fascinating story. All baskets are handmade and were bought in western Zambia.
