The Ivanhoe at 601 Rue Bourbon was a longtime fixture in New Orleans’ famed French Quarter, operating during the mid-20th century as a classic Bourbon Street restaurant and cocktail spot. Its name and heraldic logo played on Old World themes, fitting the era when many Quarter establishments blended Creole culture with European-inspired décor. The Ivanhoe catered to locals, travelers, and late-night revelers at a time when Bourbon Street was transforming into the entertainment corridor it’s known as today. Though the original venue has since disappeared amid decades of turnover and redevelopment in the Quarter, it remains part of the layered history of pre-modern Bourbon Street dining and nightlife. This vintage matchbook features the restaurant’s crest and address on both sides, capturing a snapshot of New Orleans hospitality from a bygone era.
