My absolute favorite Depression Glass pattern, Moon and Stars, by L E Smith glass company. This popular pattern is from the early 1900’s and has been manufactured throughout the 20th century by other companies such as Fenton. The pattern was originally called “Palace”, but is mostly known as Moon and Stars. This Smith version is a gorgeous shade of Amberina, a sort of ombré red, orange and amber gold. Coloring varies according to era and manufacturer. This one is mostly bright cherry red and deep orange. The pattern was introduced in the “Amberina” color in the 1960’s. This piece is called a banana bowl. It actually starts out as a pedestal cake stand which is heated and curved into a taco shape. It has a scalloped edge and round base. It’s in perfect condition with no cracks, chips, flea bites or crazing.
