This is my most coveted piece of jewelry but time for it to go to where it can be displayed or worn.
Marked SILVER, the c-clasp, from the 1920's art deco era, has been bent to be able to close and the pin has some bending as seen in pictures. That said this piece is absolutely beautiful!
The wings have been covered in glass and shine beautifully. The silver has NOT been polished as many collectors desire. I have included a polishing cloth if you so choose to use it.
History -
Morpho butterfly wing jewelry from the Art Deco era (1920s-1930s) features the real, iridescent blue wings of the South American Morpho butterfly, often under glass, framed in silver, and sealed to create a glowing, holographic effect, popularized by British jeweler Thomas L. Mott and cherished for its unique beauty and symbolic meaning of transformation.
