A dramatic and rare Vintage Dominique Aurientis
Necklace from the 1980s.
Dominique Aurientis started her career in the Christian Dior atelier, moving onto the houses of Chanel, Givenchy, Lanvin, Ferragamo, Emilio Pucci, and Céline. Quite the list!
She launched her own jewellery company in Paris in 1986 and her pieces are highly sought-after due to their exceptional style and craftsmanship.
The most spectacular baroque style whole glass pearls are interspersed with Etruscan style embossed rhondelles. The clasp provides exquisite detail to the necklace. A large intricately designed hook connects with a pair of large embossed oval rings.
Dropping down from the clasp, a beautiful, embossed chain, its links with pearl drops and finished with a teardrop pearl. With Aurientis's career in couture it is highly likely this piece or at least the components were provided by Maison Gripoix or Goossens. The pearls and the metalwork the same quality as Chanel jewellery and the pearls most definitely poured glass or pate de verre, the metalwork embossing details so very similar if not the same as seen in pieces of Chanel jewellery during this era.
A truly remarkable piece of chic, wearable Parisian art, of the highest quality and craftmanship.
