Lovely vintage silver-plated glass basket or serving dish, often referred to as a "bride's basket" by modern collectors, but originally called a cake, fruit, or berry basket by manufacturers. These pieces were popular between the 1860s and early 1900s, though they saw a resurgence in popularity in the mid-20th century.
Marked ENGLAND
It features a clear, pressed glass insert that sits within an ornate, reticulated (pierced) silver-plated metal frame.
The metal basket holder has an intricate, open-work pattern around the sides and rests on a base. A distinctive twisted metal handle arches over the top
6" round 5" high & The bowl is approximately 1.75" deep.
Great condition for its age, no chips on glass
I used it as a candy dish 💕
