Vintage 1950s Swan Salt Cellar. Clear glass with articulated silver plated wings that open up to the salt dish. History of Salt Cellars: Salt was once very expensive and seen as a luxury - it was the weathier that made salt cellars quite fashionable & a status symbol for the home. A single salt cellar usually sat at the head of the table and was passed around throughout the meal. The closer one sat to the salt cellar, the more important one was deemed by the head of the household. This would be an adorable modern day ring holder/trinket dish. Excellent condition.
