Very vintage screwback earrings with an oval drop. These are in the Toledoware style of Damascene, with enamel and a raised patterns. They are in good condition for their age, with some enamel loss and metal wear on back. Please refer to photos as they are part of the description. Damascene involves carbonizing steel to black then etching designs. The designs are inlaid with gold (and occasionally silver). Fine artisan pieces are usually inlaid with real gold. Toledo, Spain, is the traditional "home" of Damascene. Toledoware is a style of Damascene that has raised rather than etched designs. Popular motifs are geometric designs and Renaissance designs with birds, flowers, etc.
