Original village piece, probably from Transylvania (Romania) Homespun linen petticoat. Cartridge pleats at waist. Vertical red woven bands inserts at seams. Row of geometric black embroidery near hem, followed by white openwork & geometric woven bands. Scalloped crochet edging at hem. XS Condition: Fabric is very strong and sturdy, and petticoat is in wearable, but not perfect, condition. Crochet edging is worn and torn. Embroidery is also worn away in areas. One of the red bands needs to be restitched, and bands are faded in places.
